The Brand and Model of most external devices can be found on a label which is usually on the rear or bottom of the device.
The Brand and Model of some (but not all) internal devices can be obtained from the Device Manager in Windows.
- In Windows 95, 98, 98SE and ME, right-click on the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties, go to the Device Manager tab, locate the category for the device you want to identify, click the + next to the category to show all devices in that category and locate the information for the specific device below that.
- In Windows 2000 and XP right-click on the My Computer icon on the Desktop, select Properties, go to the Hardware tab, click Device Manager, locate the category for the device you want to identify, click the + next to the category to show all devices in that category and locate the information for the specific device below that.
