Jon, Please let me know if you're using Windows XP ?????

If you want to copy a picture to another folder just right click the picture, choose Copy then open that other folder and in an empty space right click and choose Paste. This will place a copy in the other folder and will retain the original picture file where it was. Is this what you mean?
