You will want one with long battery life and, that's lightweight, first and
foremost. Look for that first.

Years ago I read a comparison on laptops, and Toshiba came out on top for being
sturdy, like a Timex, 'takes a licking and keeps on ticking'. I, myself, am
prejudiced to IBM's now Lenovo Thinkpad, which is what I have. I especially like it
because of the centered mouse nub on the keyboard, which other laptops don't have.
I don't like touchpads and so am not familiar with them. Some of my relatives opted
for ASUS.

You might want to wait until the new USB 3.0 is available, if not now, then soon.
You'll have to be your judge for the speed, HD size, RAM, and programs that you
think are necessary to you for your purposes.
