Hi, Eddie, I tried to post to copy what I'd tried, had problems, browser hung up, tried to copy findings to an existing notepad file, it hung up, tried to Save as the text I had open, it hung up, tried to open Wordpad to save it there, it did not ever open, the Start menu hung up, no browser would open, OE wouldn't open, everything hung up, and ctrl+alt+del did not work. So I'm at my desktop, and of course, paste won't help here. The desktop was getting a Windows Update, so I had to wait for a Restart for that. I am not going to complain about that - it works!
I had 5 users display, I can't remember them all but 3 had red Xes. When I clicked a user and hit Enter, I got an error message for each and every one.
I looked at system events, I forget the scenario, but problematic filenames for this date appeared to be something like crypt32 and fdisk to the best of my memory.
For the laptop, I guess I will press the power off button to shut it down. Then start it up again. It works for simple things most of the time.
Thanks for your patience, Jan1 -----

'1) Not exactly like it, but the top one is closest, but mine shows Switch user on the left and kickinin (me) on the right.
'2) Do you think maybe ActiveX, Flash, or Java could be my problem? I think Java's ok.'
Hi Jan1
1) OK, without getting into changing too many of your current settings, lets see just what you do have for accounts and their status, etc.
Open your Run box (Ctrl + R) and enter "compmgmt.msc" (without the quotes) and hit the Enter key.
When the Computer Management panel opens click on the + to the left of "Local Users and Groups" and then click the "Users" folder to show the existing User Accounts in the right panel.
Highlight each account (one at a time) and hit your Enter key to open its Properties sheet.
Make a note of what is checked (if anything) in the lower section of the General tab.
Click on the "Member Of" tab and make a note of what it shows for that account.
