I would think that it can read CDs, but not sure about that particular drive being able to write to one.

Can you post a link to the item in question?

Also a note about "refurbished computers", you can get a good deal on one, however, you can also get a lemon simply because most likely there was 'something' originally wrong with it that required it being returned and then "refurbished" to (hopefully) to original specs.
