Yes, the more you do them the more proficient you become. I *assume* from your reply to Karl that you don't work them and that's what really amazed me about your comments. You hit the nail on the head as to the secrets of how to solve them!! And yes, people actually do sit down and construct them. Most now are accredited for their work.

I've been working crossword puzzles for over 55 years so I guess that makes me a diehard cruciverbalist and although I find most of the "harder ones" easy I still don't have the confidence to work one in ink;-) My hat's off to Karl's wife!
